Bioremediation - Soil Remediation

The pollution of surface or groundwater presents a significant liability both in the context of UK legislation and in international situations. Identifying contamination, assessing its significance, and demonstrating satisfactory clean up to stakeholders and regulators can provide significant challenges. It is globally acceptable that water must be protected as it is a limited resource and legislation reflects this with large fines and jail sentences imposed on polluters in many countries.


As with soil contamination, EIL can take existing data or work in conjunction with consultants to provide advice on potential remediation requirements.

EIL also has the expertise to design and commission an appropriate investigation to identify and quantify groundwater contamination. Shallow investigation using window or windowless sampling techniques, or deeper techniques such as cable percussion or rotary drilling can be used to install appropriately designed monitoring wells.

Potential impacts upon surface watercourses can also be investigated through water and sediment sampling and analysis.
